8 Habits That Will Change Your Life Forever!

Habit to success

Last Updated on 09/25/2024

Habits are a set of behaviors that have become routine in our lives. We naturally like a routine because it makes us feel certain and secure. Habits are the blueprint to understanding our current condition of life and where is is heading. If you feel like life could be better exchange your original habits into better ones.

Make the habit of having the right mindset!

Having the correct mindset is the most fundamental part of creating the life you want. The only one thing that is stopping YOU from obtaining what you truly want in life is YOU, period.

Not your friends, family, or anyone else for that matter. If you truly want something in life you can always achieve it with the right mindset.

You might feel like life can be unfair sometimes like you have no control over the things that happen to you.

What you do have control over is your mindset and how you react to these circumstances.

Your mind is a very powerful tool that can help you get out of situations you don’t like into situations that are better suited for you.

Starting now, create the right mindset with these three actions:

  1. Decide what you want out of life.
  2. Never give up on yourself or that desire, every day no matter how tough it gets remind yourself that only by going under fire can you transform into what you want to be.
  3. It does not matter what anyone thinks as long as you feel like it’s right for you. There might be people who laugh at your dreams or doubt you, it doesn’t matter, you are not doing it for them. At the end of the day it’s all about YOU!

Great habits save you valuable time

In a busy world, there is nothing more valuable to a person than their time.

Time is something that is so valuable because every living person has the same 24 hours in one day.

You can’t add more time in a day and once it is past it can never be recovered.

Even the richest man in the world cannot buy time.

You did not and do not have any more time to waste!

Life has no guarantees of what will happen to us tomorrow so stop wasting your time on the unimportant things and unworthy people that do not enhance or add value to your life.

How do you know if someone is right for your life?

They add value to your life.

They support you mentally or emotionally.

You can learn from them.

You can rely on them when you need them.

They can fit in with the lifestyle you want to live.

Starting now, you need to understand that your time is more valuable to you than any material thing you can own or will ever own in your lifetime.

What you can start doing to spend your time wisely…

One way to gain the power of time back within your grasp is to know and understand who you are and what is your purpose in life. Define this and devote your time to this. You will when every time! No pun intended.

The habit of planning for success

On a piece of paper, write out the top 5 things that you would like to accomplish the next day.

Handwriting down goals helps you to connect to them with intention and purpose.

Top industry leaders like Tony Robbins, Richard Branson, and Oprah like to write things down as a way to set ideas, tackle goals and record progress.

How to set daily goals and crush them…

When you wake up the next morning before you touch your phone to check emails or social media spend a couple of minutes to figure out what needs to get done for that day.

Prioritize them into the top 5 things that you would like to see accomplished then crush them.

We feel accomplished with just tackling these mere 5 things that we wanted to.

It sets for a good habit of being productive and finishing the goals that we set out for.

Consistent exercise habits help you feel great!

Exercise is the one thing the most successful people do every day.

It benefits not only the body but the mind as well.

When you exercise your mind is able to become more clear, sharp, and focused. You’ll reap the benefits of higher energy and happier moods.

Your health should be your #1 priority at all times.

Without health, it does not matter if you have all the time or the money in the world.

How to start exercising for a better mind and greater health…

Try to commit some time each day to exercising, start slow and little by little if you have to.

I know exercise can be a struggle, even somedays for people who exercise often.

Motivate yourself by understanding that even leaning toward small steps will have pushed you forward towards being a better you, a better version of yourself. Feel like you have no time? Harvard Medical published an article saying that even taking the stairs instead of the elevator is still a small benefit.

When you run errands, park your car far away from the entrance, walk to a nearby restaurant instead of driving there for lunch, walk to the person in the other room to talk with them instead of texting.

Take five to play outside with the kids or fetch with the dog.

There are also plenty of online workout videos that only consist of 15 mins of your time to get the habit started.

Make exercise fun by starting out doing the things you enjoy, exercising can be a chore if you are not used to it so find ways to make it enjoyable for you or invite friends to exercise with you.

Once you start feeling good and looking good it will get addicting. You will keep wanting to push yourself to seeing how far you can go.

Build the habit of daily gratitude

habits of daily gratitude

It doesn’t matter how much or how little you have, be grateful for them all. Even a homeless person living in their car can find gratitude in having a car to sleep in. ‘’The things we take for granted are the things someone is praying for’’

Many of us live life taking so many things for granted, until one day we no longer have them at our disposal than when living in regret.

Why wait until it’s gone to appreciate it, express your gratitude today.

How to start expressing more gratitude…

Habits of organization help clear the mind

We don’t realize how our daily environment affects our mental health.

If you ever have watched the T.V. show, Hoarders, you understand how easily our material things can take a hold of our life and our happiness.

Cleaning, clearing, and organizing our space gives us power and control over our external environment.

It also helps by bringing us more mental clarity and focus.

Providing yourself a clear and clutter-free environment is also a form of self-love, you are saying ‘’I deserve to surround myself with peace and clarity.’’

How to feel more at peace in your home or workspace…

  • Keep it simple. Keep what you love and use every day. Toss or donate what you do not need or use.

Tip: I know to some; you feel like you need 5 of the same-colored shirts or 20 coffee mugs. The truth is more of a want than a need.

Make room in your life for things that are more meaningful than a coffee mug.

  • When was the last time you dusted your ceiling fan, if objects in your home are no longer recognizable due to thick layers of dust, then it’s time to get cleaning?

Tip: The more stuff you have the more time you have to spend managing them, if you don’t want to be constantly bothered with cleaning them or organizing them then let them go from your life.

  • Every item has a home. Every item you own should have a designated spot that it belongs to. It makes for easy retrieval and organizing.

Habit of forgiving, because you deserve it!

It’s been 20 years and you are still mad at someone who wronged you, let it go. Chances are you are the only one that cares enough to hold on to the grudge that has been eating away at you all these years while everyone else has moved on.

Forgiving is not about letting the other person off the hook, or that your pain was insignificant.

Releasing the past is important in a way you don’t let it eat away at you every day so that it won’t block the happiness that truly you deserve in your life.

How you can release and let go…

Even though the pain has been eating away at you, you were still able to block yourself from fully feeling the full range of emotions that comes with that pain.

Go to a quiet and safe space and let yourself feel those emotions that you have been blocking all this time. If you’re mad, scream. If you’re sad, cry. Truly, and freely let yourself feel what you have been so desperately trying to hold back.

Once those emotions come to the surface, now realize that you were a different person than when that pain happened. The person you are now is stronger, wiser, and smarter than that of the past.

You are the one that is now in control and that problem is no longer a threat to you.

You are willing to release what was once a painful part of yourself to gain peace and happiness.

Remember it is never about them, this is about you and your journey to happiness.

Nightly habit of unplugging

In the modern age of technology, we all cannot live without our phones. Technology is a useful tool but should only be used like that. With all the outside noise of a busy lifestyle why overcomplicate your life? Many of us have the habit of even being on our devices while we are watching T.V.  One Study has revealed that social media platforms make us feel more depressed, insecure, and lose our quality of sleep.

What you can do to unplug…

  • When you are hanging out with your friends or family, everyone should put the devices down. Engage with them, make eye contact with them to let them know that you are listening and paying attention.
  • Set time limits. You might need your device while you are working in the daytime but after that, it’s more just for your personal use. Set a time limit for yourself and your family of how much of your time will be spent on your devices.

TIP: Unplugging 1 hour before bedtime can prepare you for a better sleep cycle.

  • Turn the noise down. If you are worried about missing emergency phone calls then set your phone to only ring with certain numbers that you might need to pick up, otherwise if you and your family are home turn off unnecessary loud notifications.

Conclusion

By consciously replacing negative behaviors with uplifting habits, you create an environment that nurtures growth, resilience, and success. Embrace the process, be patient with yourself, and celebrate each victory along the way.
